The Sutton Night Watch premises at 35 Manor Road, Wallington has been open a little over a year now.
But in line with government advice due to the pandemic, we had to limit the services we could provide & that was difficult for us. However we diversified & supported other local charity & community groups while also providing a fuller holistic approach to homelessness & the many facets thereof by signposting & supporting the homeless & vulnerable with complex needs, to rehabilitation, housing & support services.
We are extremely proud to share the two stories below with you (with our service users permissions).
Jason came into us on 2nd of March 2020, homeless & addicted to crack & heroin. Sutton Night Watch ensured he was referred to the correct services to support a full recovery, including a comprehensive rehabilitation program.
We also supported him throughout 2020 & into 2021 as he found a sponsor & as he went through his 12 step recovery program.
Jason is now helping us support service users everyday by working on our reception. He meets & greets people, offering a friendly, supportive, understanding welcome to people he truly understands as he has been in their place.
He is now proudly a fulltime volunteer.
Jo came to Sutton Night Watch when she was just 4 months clean & sober as she wanted to give her time to others who may be experiencing things she had experienced..
Jo has been volunteering for the past year, supporting & welcoming service users as they come to us.
We are extremely proud of how far Jo & Jason have come in this year.
