Homeless World Cup Update

Every year, the Homeless World Cup Foundation delivers an inspirational week-long street football tournament that brings together more than 500 players representing 50+ countries around the world, all of which have faced homelessness and social marginalisation.

The annual tournament frequently attracts crowds of more than 80,000 with millions more watching online around the world.

Last year, one of our service users – Marc Harvey was picked to play & he recently gave us a fabulous update.

Hi Lisa,

I came into Sutton Night Watch and Lisa helped me get the support I needed, after a period of falling lower, I picked myself up and now I wanted to let you know how things are going.

I’ve just done my interview with the Homeless World Cup organisers and made sure I mentioned Lisa and Sutton Night Watch. Keep doing what you are doing and thank you for all the help you gave me when I needed it (Clothes, Food and the AA introduction to Craig McManus, which changed my life.

Thank you for passing me over to Craig. I am now clean and completely free of all drugs and volunteering with Street Soccer.

I played for my country last year in Scotland and this year, I am going to the Homeless World Cup in New York with Craig.

My life has really turned a corner, I am now managing a local football team  and recently got engaged.

I’ve completed the 12 step program and would love to give back, so if you need a speaker at any time, please let me know.

Thank you again Lisa, your kindness has allowed me to help myself again.

What an amazing update – We are so happy we were able to provide the support needed to effect this change. We look forward to hearing all about the Homeless World Cup!
