McCarthy Cars Wallington raise huge funds to support local charity Sutton Night Watch

The Mayor of Sutton, Cllr Trish Fivey was on hand recently to witness an amazing presentation of a cheque for £2,500 to Sutton Night Watch.

The funds were kindly raised by local business McCarthy Cars during the month of December 2021, where they donated £25 for the sale of every vehicle to the local homeless Charity. The huge amount raised was a very pleasant surprise for Sutton Night Watch as this will mean they are able to enhance their supportive programmes for those local people who are vulnerable or homeless within our borough.

Mayor Fivey, said: “I am delighted that I was able to attend this wonderful moment, as meeting those who are supporting people locally is incredibly important to me. Especially when I am able to see the amazing work the charity does, but also the work that goes on behind the scenes from supporters like McCarthy Cars & the Sutton Night Watch Fundraising Team”.

SNW Fundraising Director Nadine Kennedy, said “The fantastic amount, generously raised, by McCarthy Cars will be pivotal in helping the charity to be able to expand on and introduce new holistic support for our service users. We have in place, easily accessible courses such as our Positive Steps Programme as well as having a mentoring scheme in place to support all of those in need who engage with our charity.  Also, as well as counselling services we offer therapeutic services such as art classes and Reiki sessions, we are able to continue to offer a wide range of supportive courses due to the generosity of all at McCarthy Cars and their clientele”

Joe Thorne of McCarthy Cars said “Giving is not just about making a donation it’s about making a difference, and for McCarthy Cars we have always made charitable giving a cornerstone of our business. In December we wanted to help support a local charity that was making a difference to people’s lives in a fundamental and profound way, and that’s where Sutton Night Watch came in. We have supported them in the past with smaller donations but wanted to ensure we could really make a worthy contribution during the winter months. I am so happy to be here today to see the shelter, meet the people behind the scenes and hand over the cheque. What an amazing place, in the heart of our community. McCarthy Cars are very glad we could support them in this way”.

Sutton Night Watch is run by volunteers, funded entirely by donations & every penny goes directly to supporting the vulnerable of Sutton & surrounding areas.  Find out more at www.SuttonNightWatch.com
